Cavell Park Care Home

New home coming soon!

Located close to the historic town of Maidstone, Cavell Park Care Home is situated on Sittingbourne Road, which is just a short drive from the M20 motorway. Maidstone and its surrounding areas boast famous sights such as the distinguished Leeds Castle and the renowned River Medway.

This impressive location is the birthplace of the father of English sonnets, Sir Thomas Wyatt, and our home takes its name from the heroic First World War nurse Edith Cavell, who worked in Maidstone during her training. Nicknamed the events capital of Kent, Maidstone has much to offer our prospective residents.

Cavell Park Care Home will offer 24-hour residential, nursing, and dementia care within an environment purpose-built for the practical delivery of high-quality care, whilst being stylish, comfortable and incorporating many thoughtful features that are always tailored towards the satisfaction and safety of our residents.

Experienced and empathetic care comes as standard at every Porthaven care home, and at Cavell Park Care Home, our team of hand-selected staff will be on hand to support not only the physical needs of our residents but their emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs too. We place a particular emphasis on encouraging independence, and promoting wellbeing through good nutrition, hydration and socialisation.

Every resident at Cavell Park Care Home will benefit from a generously sized bedroom with an ensuite wetroom, as well as numerous communal living areas for socialising with friends and family, engaging in their hobbies, and dining. Our residents will also have access to our state-of-the-art gym, a cinema, café, and a hair and nail salon. A dedicated leisure and wellness room, and a private dining room for special family celebrations completes the array of first-class facilities on offer.

About the role:

Make a difference to people's lives every day with a rewarding career at Porthaven Care Homes. Whether you are new to the care sector or have experience, working within a Porthaven care home can be incredibly fulfilling.

As a Second Chef, you will work as part of a small kitchen team to serve delicious, well-balanced and nutritious meals that our residents will love. You will provide a high-quality food service to support our residents, whilst being responsive to their needs and contributing to their overall wellbeing. Working closely with our Head Chef, you will have the opportunity to deliver restaurant standard food without the split shifts and long weekends.

About you

Working as a Second Chef at Porthaven Care Homes, you will strive to deliver person-centred hospitality of the highest standards and you will manage the day-to-day running of the kitchen and hospitality teams when our Head Chef is not on shift. You must have experience of working in a commercial kitchen environment, ideally within a care home setting but this is not essential. You should hold a City and Guilds/NVQ (or equivalent) and be confident conducting kitchen duties, including catering for special dietary needs.

The successful candidate will be subject to the provision of satisfactory references and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and must be authorised to work in the United Kingdom. Candidates must also provide evidence of a full covid-19 vaccination.

Company Description
Porthavens story begins on 29th April 2010 when our first care home opened in Cheshire, and we welcomed our first resident to live with, and be cared for, by us.
Our aim was to build a small group of exceptional homes, where the quality of care was matched by the quality of the environment, and our residents could feel safe, secure, valued and cared for, whatever their individual needs might be.
