Full job description

Multi-Skilled Engineer

Based - Ashford, TN24 0LU

Salary circa £53,500 per annum

Continental Shift Pattern

Engineers thrive on the investigative journey of how things work, how they are made, and why they are successful. Robotic repetition in a box-ticking pigeon-hole role isn’t for you; instead, you’re driven by a passion for learning and the pride from progressive problem-solving. This is a Multi-Skilled Engineer that empowers you to make a difference, rather than giving you a list of instructions.

Premier Foods is a flagship industry player and own big-name brands such as Bisto, Paxo and Batchelors . In joining us, you’ll be part of an established and progressive business that’s achieved steady financial growth during the past five years and continually invest into our manufacturing sites.

We recognise and embrace the important role Multi-Skilled Engineers play in understanding issues, not just fixing them. You are vital to the continuous improvement journey that prevents machine unreliability and, in turn, poor customer service and the loss of customers.

Interested in…?

  • Proactive maintenance and inspection work AND proactive continuous improvement
  • Exposure to a rich variety of engineering equipment and processes
  • Automation experience; exposure to cutting-edge equipment and machinery
  • A collaborative relationship between engineers and operators
  • Career progression routes – into supervisor and management or cross-functionally

As a Multi-Skilled Engineer at our Ashford site, you’ll be part of a team of six, reporting directly to a line manager on each shift. This role is not about sticky-plaster fixing and short-term greasing; at Premier Foods, you’ll be using your engineering mindset and passion to enhance maintenance plans, investigate problems, and be part of a culture that improves equipment reliability.

Do You Offer…?

  • A completed, multi-skilled apprenticeship OR at least five years of hands-on experience
  • A relevant industry qualification, such as an NVQ L3, BTEC, City & Guilds, or above
  • Previous experience from an FMCG background

The benefits package for this Multi-skilled Engineer role includes: Salary of £53,500 per annum, 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays, a contributory pension up to 7.5%, life assurance, Sharesave Scheme, free parking and more.
